Sweets Are Sweet

Do I like sweets? That's really an easy question for me to answer and the answer is a resounding "YES!"

Next you might ask are there any particular sweets that I like more than others? That is entirely possible, though debatable according to my taste buds. You see, I like anything sweet - from candy to pies to cakes to puddings to ice cream.

There are very few sweets in each of these categories that I probably would not like well enough to try a second time. However, most sweets in these categories I will try as many times as I can.

The candy category is one that I honestly like way more than I should, so I try to refrain from eating so much anymore since diabetes is a factor in my immediate family history.

Some of the candy that I like most are the following: Butterfingers, Milky Way bars, Skor (chocolate-covered toffee bar), Hershey's candy bars and M&Ms (plain chocolate), peanut brittle, and an old-fashioned candy called Chocolate Drops. The variety I remember, from visiting my grandmother when I was much younger (not yet a teenager) was composed of a white-colored sweet creamed filling covered in chocolate - very sweet and Delicious.

Additionally, I like the really good boxed chocolates and truffles, the Cadbury cream-filled chocolate eggs, and the Lindor variety of chocolates.

Regarding pies, I like just about all pies except for Rhubarb and Mince Meat. Neither of these two have made me want to ask for seconds. I know that there are many of you out there who will take exception to my previous statement concerning Rhubarb and Mince Meat pies, but this is my own opinion and should not be considered as an attempt to negatively influence anyone who wants to try these two varieties of pies.

Basically, any sort of fruit pie or fruit-mix pie, chocolate pies of any variety, pumpkin pies, pecan pies, and chess pies are among my favorites in the pie category.

Insofar as cakes are concerned, I have not met, and tasted, a cake that I really did not like. However, even in this category, I do have a few favorites. These three favorites are: chocolate cakes of any variation, carrot cakes with cream cheese frosting, and most any variety of cheesecake available for consumption.

Concerning puddings, I have two basic flavors - chocolate and vanilla. Of course, there is also banana pudding, bread pudding, and tapioca pudding. These three I also like. As in all the sweets I have discussed above, everything sweet that I consume is done so in moderation.

Now we come to ice cream. You will notice that I said Ice Cream and not Ice Milk. My taste buds know the difference. To be honest, I don't believe there is a variety of ice cream that I have tried over the years that I did not like. Though there are some varieties that I liked more than others, but that is to be expected.

Any chocolate or chocolate variation of ice cream is always a favorite of mine. A well made french vanilla ice cream is always a good choice for me. Breyers and a few others, I'm sure, use the real vanilla beans in making their vanilla ice cream.

The difference can be tasted. For me, ice creams that involve the addition of fruit, candy, or cheesecake flavors are also good choices.

Let me say in conclusion, that sweets are really sweet, no matter the category you choose. I just have to remember that moderation of the intake of these sweets is essential for my continued good health.
