Ok boys, so you've made it through high school. Congratulations! You're almost out into the big bad world, and soon enough, you'll be in University or College or whatever else it is you've decided to do. Before all that, though, you have to get through one of the most terrifying events in your entire life: Prom. Yes, I know, just the mention makes you want to go crying to your mama, but don't worry... there are a few little things you can do to make it better. Follow these steps and you should be okay.
1. Go easy with the freaking hair gel. I don't care how cool you think you look, using half a freaking bottle of hair gel or hairspray or mouse or whatever doesn't make you look more mature: it makes you look like a deep-frier grease trap, and I promise you, no woman with half a brain wants to dance with a grease trap. If you feel the need to use some, remember the old saying "less is more". That stuff is powerful, so don't feel the need to slop it on like it's going out of style.
2. Same goes for cologne. A little deodorant is a great idea, and if you feel the need to spray on a little cologne, that's fine. I shared a table at my then-girlfriend's prom with a guy who must have just poured a bunch of cologne into a big old bathtub and rolled around in it for a good hour or so. Once again, like the hair product.
3. Don't be afraid to condition. Yeah, I know, it might seem a little feminine to use conditioner for your hair, but think about it. You know how nice and soft a girl's hair feels? Well, guess what, they like that nice soft hair, and if you have a decent head of hair instead of some frizzy nightmare, you will stand out in the crowd. Buy some conditioner a few weeks before prom and start using it then, so that your hair has a chance to actually, you know, get conditioned. If you use hair gel or whatnot, I promise you will find that your hair behaves much better if it's been treated properly.
4. Don't shave the day of prom. Shave the day before, or maybe even the day before that. I can't tell you how many guys at the prom I went to had nasty and truly hideous razor burn from a last-minute shave for a super smooth look. Your best bet is to shave the night before, and as soon as you wake up check for razor burn: if you see any, put some of your mama's hand cream or moisturizer on it and try to minimize the damage. Don't forget, most girls think a guy with a little stubble is sexy.
4b. If you have a beard, sideburns, a soul patch, a mustache or any kind of facial
