How to save money on groceries without coupons

One may spend hours looking around for coupons that they may or may not need to use, this is unpractical and unnecessary. In order to save money on our grocery bills we need to be aware of what we spend and how we spend it. Coupons benefit the store more than they benefit you, they tend to make you buy offers, which may or may not benefit you. However without using coupons, you control every aspect of your purchases.

Write a shopping list
Before you go grocery shopping, make sure to check your previous grocery shopping receipt. Cross out all the items that were not needed. Doing this will enable you to see that a lot of your items are impulse buys. By retaining this knowledge you will see that quite a few items you will then realise when you are shopping what are the impulse products that you purchase and how you really do not need them.

Supermarket Cards
Many supermarkets now currently offer you cards that you can use to collect points when you shop. These points add up over time and are converted into cash of your grocery shopping bill. They can result in discounts when you shop and conveniently mount up over time for a great price drop on your items.

Supermarket own brands or local produce
Buying food from supermarkets that are the supermarket's own brand turns out to be the best money saving option. There are always brand produces but supermarkets may offer their own brand foods, which are much cheaper and does not mean that they are bad produce. Also your local grocery shops will give you fresh, good quality produce at great prices.

Cook from fresh
Instead of buying readymade meals, think, could I make that? There are many cookbooks and on-line websites that have the recipes for meals great tasting meals. It will work out cheaper cooking for yourself instead of buying readymade meals which are high on packaging (this makes items more expensive) and also not very healthy for our diet.

Storage
Store all your grocery items such as bread, vegetables, fruits, vegetables, mayonnaise, ketchup and other items in the fridge. This will make your produce last much, much longer so you'll have to shop for that item less and also throw away less produce.

Sale
When items go on sale, such as toilet or kitchen rolls, washing up liquid, soap, toothpaste, etc. You should stock up on them, so you can have an advantage of that product while it is on sale instead of buying it at the full price later on.

Type of supermarkets
Recently there was a survey showing that high end supermarkets do not always have the best foods. The study demonstrated that cheaper supermarkets offer very similar foods in quality, if not better. In order to get the best possible item for the best possible price you need to be open minded about where you might or will shop.

The little things you do, like polishing your supermarket shopping skills and organising your methods will help you to save money tremendously over the short term period as well as the long term.
