Poetry: At odds with myself

by Betty Jo Petty

Created on: March 27, 2009   Last Updated: April 12, 2010

Where is my backbone?

What happened to my spine?

Why don't I still have strength,

within my long line?

I used to be so strong,

no longer am I.

Such a weakling I've become,

No, wait, I'm not that lowlife.

I'm strong, I'm not wrong,

I'm woman, I am fine.

Backbone, strength?

Yes, I have a strong lifeline.
