America: The Evil of the Age

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the Untied States of America, and to the republic for which it stands; one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." These are the famous words every ten-year-old American knows. It is the pledge everyone recites before ball games or classes on Monday morning. However, how often does anyone stop to think about what it is they are pledging allegiance to? The America that was the dream of the Pilgrims is dead, and America has taken the position of world leader and a corrupt one at that. America acts as the largest super-power in war, plays as acting "father" to all other countries and intrudes on other countries' soil in the name of peace.

The dream of the Founding Fathers is now dead in the United States. "America was a great nation long before it was a world-class military or economic power. America was great based on the ideas advanced by our Founding Fathers. We were to have a government of and by the people. We were to be a nation of laws. Wealth and power were to play a role in government but not be the government. The power of the elite was to be curbed by principles." (Democratic Talk Radio) If this is all true, which as stated by constitution it is, then one should ask how well America has held up to that promise. The answer isn't pleasant: not so well at all. True enough we are a nation of laws, but most of the rest of the ideals are deformed and a perverse idea of the glory and splendor we are promised here. If the government is truly by the people for the people, why are many politicians well-off when many average citizens are outraged with the current senators' or president's decision? If wealth and power were to be in government but not the government itself, why is it that so many political scandals seem to be found, and even more suspected? America has become a game for senators and all who want to be the man in the big chair.

Another promising idea that America stands on is peace, simple peace. "Many scholars agree that the USSR (Soviet Union, Russia) is most responsible for defeating Germany in World War 2, but that they could not have done it without the US and UK on the Western Front. Winning the war in the Pacific is a separate question. Many scholars agree that the US is most responsible for defeating Japan, but the contributions of the USSR, UK, Australia, etc. cannot be ignored."
