Below the stars is a piece that is about the images of Horror and Satanism in music, mainly Heavy Metal. It's mainly the words of others and not mine in this piece. You can tell this section of what was supposed to be my book on Heavy Metal when I was writing it back in the 90s is far from complete. But, I like what's there and I hope you do, too.

HORROR
In Satanism, the use of sex and drugs is common. At Satanic Cult Meetings, people will drink alcohol and do illegal drugs while participating in the ceremonies. Many satanic practices involve sex. For many Satanists to consecrate their marriage to the Underworld, they have sex with a Satanic Preacher. How many people, including Heavy Metal fans, are going to really find that desirable no matter how horny they are? .
Kerry King, one of the guitarists in SLAYER, writes mostly fictitious lyrics. "I describe my songs as Horror movies on music. Tom (Araya, the bassist/vocalist of SLAYER) likes war, serial killers, current-events stuff like that. But I don't know where people get this idea that I worship Satan. I'm not a Satanic guy."(31)
Trent Reznor, the mastermind behind NINE INCH NAILS, commented, "I don't know the psychology of why someone enjoys Horror movies or likes being scared or enjoys films or music that might be considered depressing. I'm not sure what draws people to that - I am drawn to it; I'm intrigued by extremity in those departments, I don't know why. I mean, I've tried to figure it out - maybe it's because I grew up in a place where.... there wasn't anything - there was no culture, there was no influence and so what you got, you got through magazines and what might be on TV or - there was no Art Cinemas, there was no College Radios, there was no Underground Bookstores or any sort of thing like that, so.... Maybe my desire to just.... escape led me to search for extremes. I don't know."(762)
Horror Books and Movies are the business of author Stephen King (no relation to Kerry that I know of). He is a very good author. He says of horror, "The tale of the irrational is the sanest way I know of expressing the world in which I live. These tales have served me as instruments of both metaphor and morality; they continue to offer the best window I know on the questions of how we perceive things and the collary question of how we do or do not behave on the basis of our perception."(136)
Robert Walser seems to agree with Stephen King. Many of Stephen King`s books are made into movies. There are
