The secrets of attraction

Thanks to a friend for this question:

"I'm sort of new to Abraham in comparison to others, but I heard Abraham say that you don't have to constantly think of your desire, like tugging at a fish line, to make sure it's still there, and that the best thing to do is to release the desire and appreciate. My question is... How long should you hold a desire before releasing it from your mind? And how does your 15 minute personal manifestation workshop come into play...meaning should you repeat the same desires...to help evoke feelings, or is it a constantly evolving stage of wanting?"

* * * * * * * The first of the Abraham-Hicks books published by Hay House was Ask and It Is Given. Abraham has said truer words were never spoken than those contained in that title. When we ask for something - when we emit even a fleeting desire or preference - it is given to us by an ever alert and responsive Universe. Every time. Immediately.

So that means that we don't need to think of our desire repeatedly - or even more than once - for it to be placed in our "vibrational escrow" account, as Abraham terms it, ready for manifestation into our physical experience. All we need to do, really, is have desires and preferences and then get happy. When we're happy (thinking thoughts of appreciation and other thoughts that feel good), the desires that are in our vibrational escrow begin moving towards us. And as we stay fairly consistently happy, voila!, they pop into our experience.

As Abraham reiterates, this is much more about allowing things to happen than making things happen. And the way to allow is simply to have a good time with life.

But, speaking in a circular fashion, one great way to have a good time is to contemplate our desires - to imagine them, savor them, bask in them, get in the feel-good place of them. How long should we hold a desire before releasing it from our mind? As long as it feels good. As long as we're milking it for a feel-good sensation. That's it, in a nutshell.

As Abraham reveals, it's more about feeling our way through this than thinking our way through.

As for our creative workshop in which we visualize our desires, dreams, and goals, it's a dynamic process that does indeed evolve with new desires that life inspires in us each day. The formula is simply to envision those things that are most calling to us at that particular time. And the most powerful creative workshops occur NOT when we're visualizing to make something happen but, rather, when we're visualizing for the sheer pleasure of those thoughts.

So (1) our life experience causes us to have desires and preferences, to want, to ask. (2) The Universe responds immediately and precisely by supplying the object of our desires. Then step (3) involves our becoming sufficiently light-hearted to keep the doors open to our vibrational escrow warehouse. Then the strong guys in jumpsuits can start moving the "stuff" of our dreams into physical manifestation.

But, as Abraham points out, the manifestation is never really the main event. The main event is the joy of the journey TO the manifestation.

That's why we're here, really. Joy.
