Prom night will surely be one of the most important nights of your life. And as a girl (since I am writing from a female's perspective here) you undoubtedly want to make an impact. However don't make your Prom night only about the dress, shoes, makeup, accessories and so forth. Make it about more than just that. Why? Well consider the day and age in which we are living in. Our current economical situation has been compared to the Great Depression of the 30's or something to that effect. Times are hard and money is better saved than spent unless it's for an emergency of some sort. Because of this and yes I know it is important, please consider your family's situation, and if it's really worth it to dig a big hole for only a few hours of festivities.

Having said that there are lots of ways you can have a memorable occasion and still have breakfast the following day! Not all young ladies will like this bit of advice but for those of you who are thinking not just about the present but also about the future, it will help you to plan a lasting and memorable time.

*First things (and the most important) first. The Dress.

Ok, everyone wants a lovely outfit, one that outshines any other female within a 100 mile radius. Well, why don't you try to be unique instead? Do you have a family member, friend or well known seamstress that can make a nice simple outfit? Yes, I know you don't want it simple, but bear with me. You can use that same simple outfit and make it dazzling. Buy ribbon, sequins, appliques, etc and decorate it yourself! All it takes it a little time, imagination and a small amount of effort and you can make a smashing design that no one else will have! Doesn't that sound appealing? And think of how much you will save. What's more, if you have a grandmother, aunt of anyone with older style clothing, you can remove the sequins or appliques from that clothing instead and then you won't even have to buy the materials to decorate.

Another option; Fix up an older style dress of your mother's or someone else and make it over into a younger more feminine style for yourself. Again you can decorate it to your hearts content.

Should you not want to do that, rent or borrow from a good friend. Don't think, I don't want to do that! I prefer something new! Think instead of how much you will cut down on costs but still look great. The above includes little older style purses (dig up an old one from some family member-they are quite cute), a beautiful scarf to accentuate the style,
