In 2004 Christian Churches all over America celebrated the re-election of George Bush because he is a self proclaimed Christian. While this example could lead to much criticism, the point is not whether or not you agree with all of his decisions and politics, but rather do you believe in the direction in which he will handle future issues that pertain to your faith.

Nations all over the world elect leaders based upon their faith and beliefs. Faith and beliefs go hand in hand whether you are Christian or Islamic or Hindu or an Atheist. If your faith and beliefs go against something that a leader may stand for your conscience will automatically intervene in your decision. People's faith and beliefs usually reflect their decisions in everyday life such as wear of clothing, food they eat and the way they raise their children. In Iraq women are voting for the first time ever. Now if you were a Sunni woman in Iraq would you not vote for a Sunni President rather than a Shiite? Of course you would and of course they are.

Faith is what gives people the power to act on their beliefs. If you have faith that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior are you not going to either wake your family up on a Sunday morning for church or mass? If you have faith that there is no God are you not going to avoid donating any money to Christian churches? Your faith, no matter what you believe, should reflect your decisions big and small. Voting for your country's leader should be no different. He or she, who you elect, will be the one representing you after all.

An example would be this; if your faith says that abortion is wrong and you believe very strongly against it then why would you have voted for President Obama when he is clearly for abortion across the board. He is for teenage girls getting abortions without parental consent or knowledge. If that goes against your faith and beliefs then you are morally contradicted. If your faith and beliefs tell you that gay marriage is okay then why would you have voted for Senator John McCain who is clearly against the union of same sex couples? Of course there is always more to the decision but your faith is what makes you who you are and leads in what you value as a human being.

There are many who have faith in nothing more than what they see and experience day to day. Their natural bias will shift to things that they find important such as a teacher with no religion or major belief structure will likely concentrate heavily on what candidate will bring the best education packet to the table. That person is also likely to look at health care as another major issue and will likely also consider the things going on throughout the world. However, that person still has faith that there is no higher power to answer to and that is what effects their vote. Everyone has faith but not all the same beliefs that go with it. You may have faith in several different things and they may shift in matters of importance from day to day, week to week and year to year but you still have some sort of faith and it is that faith in whatever you believe that reflects your decisions in life.
