"Stop!" I yelled, as something pushed me backward and onto the ground. "Who pushed me?"
Nobody answered me, so I struggled to locate my flashlight since I couldn't see because of the dim light in the alley. I found it and turned it on, but when I moved it around to survey the area, I didn't notice anyone lurking in the alley. I decided that whoever hid in the alley disappeared when he knew I appeared because he didn't want to be seen, or maybe he hid somewhere in the alley waiting to do something else. After a few minutes, I felt something scurrying across my leg. "What was that? Who's there?" I asked, as fear started to swell up inside me.
I still didn't receive a response, so I cautiously stood up and proceeded to shine the flashlight back and forth to see if I spotted anyone waiting to attack me. I couldn't see anyone in the alley, so I decided that whoever hid from my view vanished quickly.
I had walked through this alley many times before, but nothing like this has ever happened. I hesitated before I continued to walk to the back door of the office supply store because I didn't want anyone to notice me, especially whoever seemed to be in the alley.
I didn't have any trouble entering the back door, which amazed me. I thought I would have more trouble entering a store through the back door since most places have an alarm system to warn the police about any break-ins, but I'm glad this place didn't have an alarm. That's why it was so easy to enter this place.
On the other hand, I really didn't want to break into a place, but I'm a writer, and I wanted to find out if I could break into a place without much trouble or if I'd have trouble becoming a burglar. "Wait a minute - I suddenly remembered what happened to me earlier. I wondered if the guys, who gathered around me before the police arrested me, were the ones who hid in the alley and attempted to scare me because the police hadn't located them, yet. I hadn't heard any more information about the three guys who escaped which made me relieved because I didn't know what I'd do if I confronted them. I didn't like the policemen arresting me for a crime I didn't commit."
As I glanced around the store, my body tensed up when I noticed a dim light. I sure didn't want to confront anyone while I was in here. When I realized it was the street light shining a dim light into the store, I wondered if I'd have trouble locating my writing supplies, but I managed to start down an aisle, using my flashlight. However, as usual I bumped into a stand in the middle of the aisle and plopped onto the floor with the items tumbling on top of me. "Ouch!" I blurted out. I shuffled the items to the side, so I could stand up.
Starting to rise up, I had second thoughts when I noticed a bright light shining inside. I hoped that the person outside didn't realize I was in the store because that would really ruin my plans, and I didn't want that to happen. Then, it crossed my mind that whoever stood outside and shined the light inside, might be a police officer, and I didn't want to confront a police officer again, so I sat motionless and hoped the person would disappear soon.
