Theme parks are loved by people of all ages and are a great day out. While most places adhere to safety guidelines, accidents can still happen. Helping yourself to stay safe at a park is really common sense.
The majority of visitors will go on a day when there is good weather. If the sun is shining then take precautions. Use a good sun cream and don't forget to reapply during the day. It's also worth wearing a hat. You should drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. You will probably be doing a lot of walking around and standing in queues. You don't want to develop blisters from unsuitable footwear.
The larger rides in the park will have restrictions. They may have warning signs with a minimum height and a maximum weight. Some attractions are not suitable for pregnant women and those with certain medical conditions. Before getting in the queue for any ride, take the time to read the warning signs. If one of the restrictions apply to you then don't get on. They are there for a reason.
Follow the attendant's instructions. Only get on and off the ride when you are told to do so. If you are told to wear a safety harness or keep your hands inside at all times then do it. Like the warning signs, you are told these things for a reason. Disobeying them could result in a nasty injury.
When you first arrive at the park check your map to find out where the first aid stations are. If you are in a group pick a place for a meeting point in case you get separated. Like anywhere else children must be supervised at all times. Do not force your child to go on any ride they do not want to or are not ready for. Some rides cannot be stopped halfway through, no matter how frightened a child maybe. Ensure that your child understands how they should behave on the ride.
When you visit a theme park try and take as little with you as possible. Some places have locker facilities while others will not allow you to take personal belongings on certain rides and you will have to leave them with the attendants. Leave your things with others members of your party or if you have to take one or two items on, make sure they are secured for example in a pocket which zips up.
You should always be considerate of other people. Don't queue jump or push others out of the way because they are walking slower than you. Watch where you are going and don't misbehave on rides as you could be endangering others as well as yourself. By following these tips and using your head, you will have a fantastic time.
