I held it somewhere between my hands and my pocket
Its tiny little legs blindly scurrying along my fingers
And the folds of my skirt
Tickling my hands, and inching up my arms
Until it was unbearable to hold on to
And with one breath, I gave it wings
.
Delicate wings, pastel
An unidentifiable color that transformed as it flew
Seemingly harmless and floating just out of reach
With wings so thin it could soar endlessly
But slice like a knife unexpectedly
.
Out the window and into the sunlight
It glittered and spiralled out of control
To whomever wished to hear the whisper of wings
