If you're a pet owner, then I am sure you are all too familiar with the inconvenience of the hair of your furry friend being everywhere from your furniture to your clothes. Lint rollers are good, but only for a limited amount of time before they become ineffective, and hand held vaccuums can be cumbersome and take up space.
Enter the Pledge Fabric Sweeper.
I wasn't sure if this would be as effective as it was advertised at first, so coupon in hand, I purchased one to try. All it takes is making some short, side to side sweeps with this lightweight device (they have half-rollers that only move so far), designed so that one roller flicks fur from the other into the top collection area, without the mess of tossing the pet hair back out like a vacuum or even a lint brush would.
The main marketing catch is that the Fabric Sweeper claims to pick up as much hair as 145 sticky sheets (and that's a lot of fur!). However, the only drawback of the Fabric Sweeper is that it is designed to be thrown away when it's full instead of being emptied and re-used.
However, as the old saying goes, there's more than one way around things; I was able to mess around with the fasteners to the point where I could empty the container, but this should be done very carefully, and make sure there's no sharp edges. Making this successful can save a great deal of time and money if that is an issue for some.
After one pass over the chair where my cats tend to "make camp" a great deal, I must say that a large amount of cat hair did show up in it. It also worked on a pair of my black jeans after Popeye rubbed himself on my leg one day. It also worked wonders on both my sofa an love seat, a life saver right before company arrives before a special occasion.
The Pledge Fabric Sweeper sells at most retail and drug stores for between $6-$8 (the lowest price I have found, however, is $5.49 on a discount website, and a shopping network website also sells them in a bulk package of four for about $20 plus shipping). It's quite a steep cost for an item that will just be thrown away once it is full, but depending on how long it will last in one's household (maybe having to buy one once or twice a year), perhaps it may not be such a bad investment after all.
Bottom line is, does it work as well as advertised? YES. And the bonus is that it makes no noise, so scaring the pets won't be a worry either. Unlike hand held vacuums, it is also easy to store, taking up very little space, and also not messy as lint rollers and brushes.
This is definitely worth the investment and convenience for cleaning up the never-ending problem of pet hair.
