Satire: Racism

by I William

Created on: March 25, 2009

When one mentions racism, most reasonable minded individuals would dismiss such thoughts as simple intolerance. Perhaps even stereotypically diagnose the misguided and perceived racist as a xenophobe. Yet, others will acknowledge historical events and give validity to the seemingly acceptable behaviors of a racist.

Regardless of the reasoning, opinions or perspectives, I cannot help but wonder why the masses have not recognized these behaviors and the existence of them, as pure stupidity. As a species, our common sense has eluded us.

Common sense tells us, or at least it should, that our main physical appearance is not chosen by the individual. So, I shall blame your parents. Oh wait, they didn't choose their physical appearance either. I shall blame your grandparents. Darn, they didn't choose. Great grandparentsno..great, great grandparents.no.gee, who do I get to blame for my hatred of the color of your skin?

Besides, if I claim you to be inferior, I am obviously superior. What? What do you mean? The color of my skin and my country of origin is happenstance. NO, it cannot be. I am superior because I say so.

Quiet your tongue foolish woman, you are to be seen and not heard. Know your place and mind it. What? You did not choose your gender? Surely you did, of course you did, and you're a female for the purpose of subservience, aren't you? Back to the kitchen and tend to my needs. After all, I am superior because I say so.

I do not judge in accordance to actions, I do not want my actions judged. I do not judge in accordance to vocabulary, I do not want my vocabulary judged. I do not judge in accordance to anything that is learned or acquired, I do not want to be judged on my learning or acquisitions. These are things for which I am personally responsible. These are things for which I am personally accountable. I will judge others based on what was not and cannot be chosen. Yes, that is safe. After all, I am superior because I say so.

The above paragraphs were created for the purpose of bringing transparency to the idiocy of racism and gender bias. Let us be judged on our eye color, or the size of our nose, or the shape of our head, our height, our voice, our fingers and our toes. Let us continue to judge each other based on that which was not chosen and cannot be controlled. How absurd it is to pass judgment based on such things. What's that, you say? I am contributing to and encouraging intelligence(ism)? Perhaps, but isn't intelligence something that is learned, acquired and therefore ultimately chosen?
