GOVERNOR PAT QUINN NEEDS SUPPORT

Like death taxes are inevitable.

If you ignore an elephant in the room it will not go away. The state's economic deficit will not go away if nobody mentions it.

That is why Pat Quinn mentioned it. Nobody notices it more than him. It is there whichever way he turns.

Paying a little extra in taxes is the most patriotic action people can take it this time. Yes, it is one thing to fly a flag out of your car window or watch fireworks while sitting comfortably in a lawn chair. Even one that looks the American flag. That does not hurt. Real patriotism hurts. Going off to war . Beating other teams at sport. Volunteering to help your fellow countryman.

Placing a dollar tax on a gallon of gasoline would be a wonderful tax right now. It would help get the state out of the red and create employment. Most people have adjusted their mindset, and their practices, to paying a proper price for gasoline. (Anyone who has not yet done so should look at the price of a gallon of milk, beer or orange juice.) People who use their cars and trucks to earn a living should be facilitated by being able to claim their dollar back at tax time. Of course, the system should be tightened up to prevent businesses claiming personal auto use as business.

Pat Quinn has a job to do so let us help him do it. Most people are not going off to war or training for the Olympics. Only a tiny handful of individuals volunteer to help others.

The American flag you bought to fly from your car was probably made in China. So was the lawn chair you sat on at the Fourth of July fireworks last year.

You have absolutely no idea where that car you flew the flag from was manufactured regardless of the emblem it carries. A little bit here and a little bit there. The best you can hope for is that it was assembled in America. If you think cars are still manufactured in America take a trip to Detroit.

Illinois needs to get behind Governor Pat Quinn right now. The sooner the state's debts are paid off the sooner we will all begin to prosper once more.

Let us get this done now, folks.

It can be difficult for ordinary people to understand politics. Even honest politicians must sugar-coat their offerings to get into office. They are well aware people do nor want to hear harsh truths. People want to believe their is a majic want capable of making everything right.

It is the unenviable task of a politician to add colored ribbons and baloons to harsh reality. When he/she gets elected he/she must remove the ribbins and baloons despite the cries of objection from his/her supporters. He/she must then quickly apply a pre-prepared repair and get the item working before the supporters disappear.

Governor Pat Quinn is capable of performing such actions.

Unfortunately, raising taxes is the only way it can be done.
