As the wind blew past my face, I snapped on my cheap 10 dollar goggles. I didn't hear what my friends were saying. The scene infront of me took away my soul. It was if my eye-sight had just suddenly gone wrong, with huge blotches of white everywhere, I was amazed, to say the least. When my friends took me to try snowboarding in Colorado, I was reluctant to try, but I have always wanted to ski/snowboard, but because I have lived in the hot parts of Japan, it just didn't seem possible. The fact that I just chugged down tons of energy from the energy drinks didn't really matter anymore.
The first parts in the snowboarding resort was pretty blurry as somehow I was forcefully bought a ski lift ticket, with my first rental board. I snapped back from my absurd dream world of jumping off of beautiful landscapes of snow and doing flips and turns in the air, I was asked how tall I was, and how much I weighed. I was later given a board, as the instructor briefly explained some safety tips, as if he had to go over this a million times a day. Was it the energy drinks? I couldn't really focus at all, when it was probably better if I could listen so I didn't break my leg or something.
The whole thing was amazing. I was stumbling to get on the chairlift, as my buddies just laughed at me. It seems they forgot that this was the first time that I actually have even seen snow, or that I haven't even touched a snowboard. my jacket was just bought recently. I was already getting cold, as the icy breeze went through all the way to my skin. There, five, four, three, two, one! I jumped off the lift, ready to see how hard this snowboarding was. I thought it seemed easy, but it seems like I should have practiced before I got on the lift, because immediately I fell down, face first. I wasn't ready to give up easily. Jeez! I was 16, I didn't need the lift personnel's help just to ride a piece of wood. I tried going down the bunny slope several times, (a degrading name I must say) with only falling...50 times. It seems like it is a lot harder after you ride for awhile, because your knees get easily tired with the weight of the board.
After a few hundred tries, I was invited by my buddies to have alittle lunch. They asked me how my morning was, as I just sighed. I didn't really like snowboarding, but I will try to get the hang of it as I told them simply. They all laughed, as they grew silent thinking about their first snowboarding trip.
