I listened to the man that day,
who spoke about her life
described the love he had for her,
his woman and his wife
He stood next to her grave site
and talked about her smile
wished she could have stayed with him
and helped to raise their child
But far from being bitter
he spoke out strong and loud
recounting all the instances
when she had made him proud
It seems she lived a sacred life
she touched all those she knew
she sacrificed the life she had
to do what good folks do
She realized her gift of life
though brief, was always free
was never to be squandered
but offered selflessly
She knew when she was waning
she knew the end drew near
her focus still on others
she knew what they must hear
She promised to watch over them
and share their every joy
and hold them in a warm embrace
her man and baby boy
The man began to falter now
his grief was holding sway
but suddenly he straightened up
with one more thing to say:
"I know that she's with us today
Not lying in this ground
I smell her in the autumn air
She's heard in every sound
I feel her in the wind and rain
I see her in our child
She showed us what she wished for us:
we'd live 'a life worthwhile' "
So though she's left this mortal plane
her love will carry on
and roll in like the sea to land
while the moon pursues the sun...

He sat alone, memories of soft words spoken.
A heavy heart, forever broken.
Two years ago, he made her his wife.
Three days
Though we didn't make it to the finish line
I am not alone, because you are still my sunshine.
My heart is heavy because you
You were the one who made the coffee in the mornings,
As we'd sit and share the sunrise,
You always made me laugh when
Goodbye
It was her last day on earth
And he could not say goodbye;
Instead he looked through the window
Trying valiantly not
