Christmas green fills the room with the brightest of joys. The red in the room makes candy of the atmosphere. The silver, and gold tinsel fills the room with reflected beauty that dazzles the iris's. The tree in the corner fills the room with hope, joy, and expectancy. The presents under the tree fill the guests with greed. The smell on the evening air fills the stomachs with hunger.
It is Christmas, a time for gathering the family and friends together, and letting them know how much you care for them with a compassion that stems from the world of love. It's a time to share gifts, and surprise your loved ones with the thoughts of the season. It's a time of feasting with one another, showing your union with a warm meal on your cool plates. It's a time of singing out cheers as you raise egg-nog glasses, and take pleasure in the company that fills the warm room until sundown.
I love Christmas, I have always loved Christmas. I love that so many good things have happened on this eventful day. I love that the presents that are given are never filled with black coal, and always seeming to be so very luxurious that I feel as though I am spoilt. I love the good home-cooking that is passed around, and shared by the plate. I love the warm surprise in receiving a long distance phone call, one that makes you give the impression that you are more worldly because you know somebody who works and lives in a completely different world. I love everything about the big, bright, wonderful day. I get so much joy, that I can only love to sing out the Christmas tunes with the most of love, despite the fact that I have heard them so many times that I could sing each song forwards, backwards, and can pick out words from a hat in order to organize them into a hymn. I love the fact that there is so much good in the world, just as the faithful books promised. It's like everybody changes the world in order to make it extra good just for Christmas.
Yes, I love it all - despite the fact that the songs are a bit corny, the ornaments are a bit tacky, and the television is nothing but a box of Christmas themed re-runs that have been seen a hundred times. Christmas is one of the best things that has ever been invented - as it does not just share joy, the world of everyday violence has been consciously moved aside just so it can be joy. It is the star that once shined in the sky, it is the spirit that is the whole eternal good, it is the faith of many who need to crush something otherworldly inside their breasts to live into re-born year after year - it is the promise of the angels come true.
