We feel we are so self important because God created us. Our ego is as big as the concept of God. We forget that we are human animals, with all the attributes that any other animal possesses. We are just another species in this vast universe of us.
We have developed in our brain the capacity of reasoning, imagining, and the capacity of putting all these, into controllable actions.
Basically we are no different than any other animal. We have to eat, sleep, propagate our species, survive, and die. A monkey, a bird, a fly, they all have to do the same as us.
Our mind has the unique capacity of going beyond the physical world. Has the aptitude of fantasize, or thinking. Thousands of years before the concept of the god we know nowadays, was born, Hundreds of gods were wandering around the lives of those that believe in them.
The idea of one god was born simultaneously in different ethnic groups. The Jews came out with the story of creation, and that we were made to the image of their god. When you come to think about this, we are not made to the image of god, he is made to our image. He has more human attributed than us. He is a vengeful god, he punishes, and he makes promises as rewards for complying with his rules. Those are very human traits.
Temptation, something that leads somebody into a place in which is difficult to escape. Enticing, siren call, lure, ambush. All of this word mean the same.
People that believes in god only use temptation to describe the call to get into a particular situation that allows you to depart from the commands of your particular god.
Temptation is just a word that we have given the power to distract us from our goals in life. This particular word has all the power that we allow it to have. Words have the power that we allow them to have, and no more.
We believe that everything that exist is to please us, is subordinated to our well being.
We as thinking human animals have the obligation to share all our achievements with the rest of the universe. All we do is destroy in the name of civilization. We pollute our waters, we help to exterminate other species as a consequence of deforestation, global warming. We bring upon us the possibility of a pandemic by mass production of viruses to be used to control other cultures.
We hate, we kill unnecessarily, we let other human being to die of hunger and curable deceases.
I can fill books about everything we can do in the name of our complacency.
With all this that goes around the world, every single day of our lives, we dare to think in terms of god and temptation. Be real guys!
