You are all set to go out to a blind date. This could turn out to be a nightmare or an evening of excitement. Who knows what the gentleman your friend or family member has picked for you will be like? Will this be a magical experience of the hands of fate coming together and uniting people in a grand relationship? You simply will not know until you get there.
You have no idea what this person is like or whether or not chemistry will occur. It is good to choose a public place for the first meeting with a stranger. So, a date at home should be ruled out. A public place is the ideal place to go. Find some sort of entertainment option which will take the strain out of trying to make conversation. It can be nerve wracking to come up with things to say. If you choose to go out to a movie or concert you will at least have something to talk about afterwards.
Dress attractively and in a way that is natural to you. Don't wear anything too revealing in case you have been set up with a real creep. Remember, your friend might not know every single thing about the person she or he has set you up with. It can be an unpleasant world out there at times. Dress like a lady and not some cheap tart. This is just commonsense. Save your more risque outfits for when you are better acquainted with your date. Then you might like to spice things up by showing a great deal of leg or cleavage.
Be sure to also bring your cell phone with you. Have a reasonable escape plan if things go completely sour. Saying that you have to wake up really early the next day is an absolutely great way to get out of a bad date a little bit early. But, be open-minded. Just because you are out on a blind date doesn't mean you have to go out with this person a second time. Just have fun.
Don't expect that the man you are about to meet is your future husband. Even if he looks terribly terrific doesn't mean he won't go about ripping your heart out of your chest a couple of months from now. There is always the risk that you will be crazy about you date, but he won't feel the same way about you. So, do not have any expectations. Get into the moment and enjoy the evening for what it is.
You might luck out. You might meet someone who is absolutely perfect for you. A wonderful relationship could evolve out of your friend's playing cupid. Chances are that things won't be as simple as that. Blind dates have a negative reputation for a very good reason. People generally are not as skilled at picking out a partner for another person as they are for them self. The nuances of what one woman likes about a man are hard to decipher. Have fun, but don't have any expectations.
