Why it's important to teach our children about water conservation

Water is essential to people's existence and it is important to put emphasis on every concern we have on water. Without water, people will die in a shorter time than without food. Therefore we cannot just ignore the water crisis. This problem should be the concern of everyone and water conservation shall be taught starting from the early age.

Lately we can hear so many issues about the shortage of water. Like in California, (read the complete issue from this website: www.calwatercrisis.com) water is in critical situation now. The population tripled and the water consumption have increased that much, but the water ways improvement did not increase as much as the population. For this reason, shortage of water developed tremendously. Some water source dried up. The shortage of rainfall and the snow from the mountain cannot supply enough to cover the huge consumption of water. Water rationing is being implemented now in some areas to prevent too much consumption.

This crisis is not only happening in California but already felt all over United States. Water rationing is being implemented. Watering the gardens is already in time schedule. Some states can just water their lawns in the evening or none at all. The drying of the rivers is bearable and the lakes water is lower from the original level.

Water crisis is not only in the United States but all over the globe. Read the following excerpt, "The water crisis in Kenya is disrupting social and economic activities throughout the country. Unfortunately, the current wave of droughts and water shortages in Kenya and the rest of East Africa are only expected to continue." Read the complete article about Kenya's water crisis by opening this website: http://water.org/waterpartners.aspx?pgID=889.

With the continuing problem of water supply, the children shall be taught how to conserve water. This is the time to start educating children about water conservation and should be started from the early age. Education can only be implemented very well at school with this topic. With science as general topic, sub-topic rain and other water resources, and water conservation will be a sub-title. Therefore water conservation should be added to the curriculum from the first grade up. In doing this, kids learned and their learning is being extended to the family, with friends and with the whole neighborhood, towns and finally all over the nation.

Conservation of water is not only be implemented in this nation, but shall be taught also globally, since the water crisis is global. Children all over the world shall be knowledgeable of the world's crisis. As water conservation is the main topic to educate everyone, this topic shall be also included in their school curriculum. If water conservation is in all school curriculums, the education is continued from generation to generation and the crisis will be minimized and can be resolved in the future.
