Before we discuss psychic energy a discussion of energy seems necessary. We must address the concept of energy fields. The belief is that an energy field exists around everything, positive or negative. This energy permeates everywhere through everything. We must strive to align ourselves with positive energy and therefore live in harmony with this energy. In my studies in the new age field and other religions and philosophies I feel the concept of harmony to be very important.

Now we come to the concept of psychic energy. Each of us has psychic energy within us. We all have the potential to use it, for good or for bad. Of course good and bad are hard to define sometimes; they are relative terms. How we expend our energy becomes very important as well as our actions for each of our actions affects others. We must try to choose our actions wisely based with good intent and compassion.

When we start this process of trying to direct psychic energy one may not be in touch with energy or are able to feel it so I feel we must start there. Getting in touch with energy and being able to feel it takes time. It is an awakening that can happen slowly or quickly. Do not rush it. Once it happens our lives are changed forever.

The human mind is a powerful force. Like anything we must take care of It.; we must nurture it so it grows. As we grow we learn how to control and direct this psychic energy. This process takes time, discipline, and practice. A good place to start is learning to focus our energy. There are a myriad of ways to do this as anything in the new age field. I have found in my studies there is no one right or wrong way, just what works best for an individual. Some people find being surrounded by nature helpful as I do, some use crystals, some use candles. I would recommend a brief study of Buddhist techniques for meditation as they are good for focusing the mind.

Here is one example for focusing. Sit quietly and imagine yourself being surrounded by white light. See the light surround you everywhere. You can also use what is called a mantra to focus your thinking. A mantra is simply a word repeated in the mind. Some like to use the Buddhist mantra "OM". If that is not suitable you can use anything word like. Candles are a great tool to use for focusing energy. Get a candle preferably a white candle. Light it and focus on the flame. Try to clear your mind and feel the energy of the candle. These are a few ways to begin practicing focusing energy.

After we learn to focus then we work on how we expend our energy and dealing with other energies around us. There is a concept in working with energy that we attract what we project. So briefly if we project bad energy then we attract that and subsequently if we project positive energy we attract that. This is a very important concept.

Dealing with our energy is personal process as each of us are individuals. So many things affect us and our energy. Some factors are objects, food, colors, people, and music. Of course there are many more factors as well.

Now that we have the basics of energy and psychic energy explore at your own pace. One thing I would highly recommend is to keep a private journal of your experiences and your progress. This will prove very valuable.
