about the money and the history of their newly acquired dog. With the rising cost of pet adoption, some would rather spend their money on a dog that they have knowledge of the breed or breeds that went into the dog, not some guess made by a shelter employee. And many who have purchased these hybrids are those who would have not bought a mixed breed from a shelter in the first place. These are individuals who are shelling out their money for the cuteness or "designer" factor. The hybrids have had more of an impact on purebred dog breeders than on the shelters and the breeders are the ones who are screaming "foul" the loudest.
The controversy over these hybrid dog breeds will be a debate for years to come. Pedigree dog breeders don't want to see their breeds being taken advantage of or lose the income to the hybrid dog breeders. Shelters will continue having to deal with the millions of pets being abandoned every year with many having to be euthanized because they didn't have the "cute" factor or pedigree papers. There is no control or laws governing dog breeding which allows any breeder, hybrids and pedigree, to create puppies as a business. Unfortunately, dogs from both pedigree and hybrid breeders can end up unwanted and in a shelter, which leaves the dogs paying the ultimate price.
