Frosty strawberry margarita dessert is a delicious pie made for summer outdoor parties or celebrations. Quick and easy to make, this dessert can be prepared days in advance. Wrap airtight and kepp in freezer until the day of the party.
This deesert needs about 4 hours to freeze, it takes 30 min. to prepare and about 10-15 minutes to bake. This 10 inch dessert will provide around 8-10 servings.
For one dessert you will need:
1 1/4 cups vanilla wafer crumbs
1/2 cup of melted butter or margarine melted
You will need this for the filling:1 can [14oz] sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup of lime juice
2 tbsp. tequila
2 tbsp. triple-sec or another orange flavored liqueur
1 pkg. [10oz] frozen strawberries thawed
1 cup whipping cream, whipped
Fresh straberries and mint leaves for garnish. Additional whipped cream, optional for garnish
Preparation:
1. Combine the crumbs and butter until well blended. Press into the bottom of an ungreased 10 inch springform pan.
2. Bake at 375 degrees until lightly browned, about ten minutes. Remove from oven. Chill.
3. In a large bowl, combine the condensed milk, lime juice, tequila and liqueur. Beat until smooth. Add the strawberries and beat at low speed until blended.
4. Fold in the whipped cream. Pour mixture over the crust. Freeze until firm, about four hours or longer.
5. Let stand at room temprature about fifteen minutes before serving.
6. Garnish with fresh strawberries, mint leaves and whipped cream if desired
Remember: When you coat the pan with vegitable spray before melting the butter, it will reduce the tendency to stick. The microwaved crust has half the butter in it.
This item has 328 calories per serving and 19.6 grams of fat per serving.
Tips: You may omit the baking of the crust, however, it has a tendancy to stick to the pan when not baked.
