Gym reviews: Curves

I recently started working out at Curves. I guess you can say I'm not the "normal" member you find at curves, because I'm so young. Most people assume they'll find over weight women in their mid 40's and up. Well, you will find those ladies at the Curves I attend, but there are other women who are not in their 40's also. I am under 25 years old, and I totally love it, at Curves.

I'm considered over-weight (my BMI is like 25.7) and I'm only 5' 4." I currently weigh 157 lbs after giving birth to three children (the most recent was 4 weeks ago).

When I went to workout for the first time, they walked me through the entire circuit, making sure I was doing everything just right, and even the other ladies that workout were helping me out by giving me pointers, and encouraging me to push through it, because it gets easier after each time.

I've been there three times to workout in the 4 days that I've been a member at the Women's only gym. In those 3 days I've lost 3 lbs! I know that would be considered a lot, but when you are starting something new that your body isn't used to, it usually reacts differently and you can lose weight faster at first and then it will start to taper off as your body gets used to the workout.

At most regular gyms, I feel very uncomfortable, because most of the men like to stare at you while you workout. I don't like to attract attention to myself because I'm very uncomfortable in my own skin at the moment, because of my current weight. Maybe once all this excess weight is gone, I'll start feeling better about myself. At Curves, I feel comfortable, because there are only women, and the women are really nice, chatty, and just all around sweet people and are there for the same reason I am.

So far I'm 3 lbs closer to my goal weight, which is 110 lbs. I still have 44 lbs to lose, I'm hoping to lose it all by the beginning of July (which is 4 months away from now), losing about 5 lbs every 2 weeks or so, until I reach my goal weight.

So if you are curious about joining a Curves Gym (sorry guys it is women only) ... call your local curves and see if they will give you a 2 week trial period. At my local curves, they are offering free sign up fees if you donate a bag of non-perishable food when you sign your contract!

It's roughly $29.99 a month with a year contract or $39.99 on a month- to-month basis.

Just because it isn't a regular gym doesn't mean it doesn't work. One lady at the curves I attend has lost over 74 INCHES, talk about motivation to keep going and working hard.

So check out your local Curves, and see what they have to offer. If you really work at it, you can succeed with your weight loss goals. Great Staff, Clean equipment, Clean location, Great hours
