How to help spread the word about Helium

by Gordon Hamilton

Created on: March 23, 2009

Helium, the site upon which you are presently reading this article, is an article writing site with a difference. Although similar to many others in its structure and lay-out, Helium rewards its writers in a variety of different ways and to an extent with which no other similar site can compare. Helium even rewards its writers for other writers which they refer to the site, dependant upon the success of such writers, so it is very much in the interest of Helium writers to help spread the word about the site.

There are of course a great many ways in which any Helium writer can help to spread the word about Helium in perhaps the hope of attracting other writers to the site at their invitation. The first and most obvious is to simply tell others about it in the course of conversation or correspondence. Particularly if the writer has a wide circle of friends or perhaps colleagues or associates, the chances are that there will be some among them who fancy themselves as aspiring writers. It may prove beneficial to both parties therefore if the writer already established with Helium were to offer to introduce their friend in this respect.

The second way in which we can help to introduce others to Helium and promote the site to excellent effect is by referring to it and linking to it anywhere else where we happen to have an online presence. Helium actually provides HTML banners to assist us in this respect. At the bottom of every page on the site - when we are signed in - there are a number of links, one of which is entitled, "Link to Helium." This link takes us to a page where we can select from a variety of banners and whether we wish to link simply to the site, to our "About Me" page on the site, or to a particular Helium article which we have written.

Linking to Helium by using the banners described above can of course assist us in improving our own earnings. If we link to our "About Me" page or particularly to a specific article we have written on Helium, the chances are that we will accrue page views, particularly if the banner appears on a popular site or blog.

What we must never do, however, when trying to assist in spreading the word about Helium is in any sense engage in what may - however loosely - be interpreted as spam. This would involve such as sending out e-mails to a number of people whom we do not know and who therefore clearly did not solicit said messages. It may also include posting such as numerous links to online forums without adding anything else of value to the site. These actions will win neither us nor Helium any friends and may see us even banned from the site.

We can see therefore that there are a number of ways in which we can help to spread the word about Helium and do ourselves and fellow writers a favour in the process.
