Natural house-cleaning: Tips and recipes

It's been years since I've had a headache from cleaning my house. I finally figured out the source of the problem. I'm convinced it's because of toxic cleaning products. Just for kicks, I tried the stuff again. I got a headache within the hour. Why do I have to keep proving to myself that natural cleaning products are the way to go? I must be stubborn and scotch enough not to want to get rid of the toxic cleaners. "Use it up," I would say to myself, but I've learned by trial and error, that my health trumps "scotchness." It's time to totally live the pleasure of natural cleansers. I disposed of the headache makers!

A friend of mine told me about Nature Sunshine products. Another told me about Malaleuca products. I'm won over. The prices are competitive to anything on the store shelves. Knowing that these products are natural and do the same powerful job as the "headache givers" convinced me to change for good.

I found a new easy recipe for a carpet refresher. Get a sugar shaker and put in a half cup soda, then buy from Nature Sunshine Products the essential oil, Lemon. Put about 10 drops into the soda and mix well. Sprinkle it onto your carpet. The soda absorbs odors. It smells so nice!

To deter those nasty, smelly, annoying Japanese beatles, use pine oil. A few drops in a small spray bottle filled with water will do the trick. Simply spray around window sills and areas of beatle concentration. How do I know this works? I live in a house built with knotty pine. There are no beatles here. Not one. At many houses in my neighborhood and community, the beatles are climbing over each other on the windows and sills. It's got to be the pine. Beatles don't like it. Why use toxic pesticides in your home? Why deal with the stink'in beatles? Try pine oil. Another suggestion? Try saches with pine. Hang in your window.

I'm a busy person and I found this works. I use Tough and Tender from Malaleua to mop my floors, but I don't use a mop. I use an old dish towel attached to a swiffer and a spray bottle of Tough and Tender. I wet the towel, wring it out, attach it to the swiffer, spray some tough and Tender and away I go. I don't have to drag out the mop bucket and haul that around. I rinse out the towel when needed.

I use the same natural Tough and Tender on my counter tops, and even to wash my car. It leaves everything shiny and smelling nice.

Oh, and I just have to tell you about cleaning the bath tub. I've wrestled for years with different cleaners. Cleaning
