The influence of yoga upon your body

them, or replace them instead of trying to ignore them. I was able to clear the clutter out of my mind and feel so much better, and healthier.
Meditation is like medicine for the mind for me. It transforms my monkey mind (aka the chatter box, pop ups) into calm waters, strength and clarity. It is like reprogramming your mind in a sense, and is an ancient yogic technique, one that is described by Patanjali in Yoga Sutra II.

Yoga & Meditation do not have to be complicated. They don't have to be long and take hours. You don't have to be religious, you don't have to be extremely flexible. All you need is the desire, the will to be balanced in body, mind and spirit. You don't change for yoga, you don't change for meditation. You conform it, shape it, and adjust it to fit your lifestyle, and your personality. Everyone is different, that's why not all people do the same yoga practice. We grow, we change, we learn.

The easiest way to describe what meditation is - it's the state of mind and body just about everyone has when lying in bed at night. It's the state of lying there, still, just listening to your breath (or your partner's breath) the state of being totally still - body - not always mind! It's relaxing, its just "be"-ing.

If you have a hard time meditating, try lighting a candle, focus on the candle and just listen to your breath. Breathe in through the nostrils for a count of 4, hold for a count of 3, then out through the mouth for a count of 4. With each breath, you will feel your body get both energized, a warm feeling in the chest, and you will also feel more relaxed and calm. You can even try whispering to yourself out loud as you do, instead of counting, I breathe in peace and clarity, hold - say in your mind peace-peace-peace, as you exhale I remove all impurities - (which can be either mental or physical)
