Poetry: Dogs

by Betty Stone

Created on: March 22, 2009

I lit candle for you when you died.

I lay on my bed and cried and cried.

You were more than man's best friend,

You were our beloved until the end.

You were so smart, brave and sweet,

No other dog could ever compete.

Today is a sad, awful day.

But Jesse says you went to heaven right away.

I loved you, Snoopy, you know I did.

You were one of the greatest dogs that ever lived.

I will always remember how you saved me that night,

You came out running, with all of your might.

My dear, sweet friend, I will miss you so,

It will be so very hard to let you go.

I will never think of you as dead,

You'll always be alive in my heart and my head.

Jesus picked you up and cradled you,

I know He knew you were special, too.

Daddy was there when Jesus brought you in,

He took you in his arms and let your new life begin.

So be at peace, my sweet, precious, brave boy,

In all our lives, you brought so much joy.
