Scrapbooking page ideas: Fairies

Giving scrapbooking pages a theme not only makes your scrapbook fun to look at, but it makes you look very talented! Here are a few ideas for a fairy-themed page:

1. Start with cute pictures. A picture of your son or daughter with a mischievous-looking grin or an angelic smile would be a great place to start. Cut around the shape of the body, and then add wings to the picture. Get creative. You could use stickers, glue-on wings for dolls from craft stores, or bits of cloth lying around your house to make the wings. You could also try framing the picture with flower stickers or designs and having fairy stickers or pictures at the corners as if they are holding up the flower bed. There are many ways to get creative about incorporating your pictures into the theme, so have fun experimenting with the page.

2. Get creative with writing fonts. It's tempting to just jot down words on a page when you're done, but having a font that matches the theme can make a huge difference in making your page look great. Imagine how nice the page would look with a "Once upon a time" fashion old-style font! If you're good at writing out different fonts freehand, then go ahead and do it; if not, find a font in a color you like on the computer, type your entry or labels, and then print them and paste them onto the page. If you prefer your normal handwriting, then use a brightly colored marker to write on a separate, colored piece of paper. Find a way to incorporate the journal entry into the page, just like you did with your pictures.

3. Create a matching border. Use stickers or strips of colored or patterned paper to make a border around your page. Don't be afraid to use colors or designs that clash a little bit. Bright, contrasting colors often look great together and add a fun touch. If you're really ambitious, draw your own border on one of those strips of paper or along the main page.

4. Add decoration. Glitter could be pixie dust, flower stickers could be placed as if they're homes for fairy stickers, and wings and spiral designs scattered over the background can give the page a great overall feel. Again, if you're not really up for creating decorations of your own, there are many different kinds of stickers that could look great with your page content.

5. If you're not up for a challenge, buy a kit. There are plenty of cute kits for reasonable prices, so don't feel like you have to do a ton of work to have a themed page. Fairy-themed or magic-themed packages shouldn't be hard to find. Try looking for Disney, Halloween, fantasy, and fairy tale packages to start.

Good luck with your fairy-themed page!
