If you were to look at the demographic that has voted yes on this debate as opposed to the ones who have voted no, you would probably find that the majority of yes votes came from smokers and non-smokers voted no. Therefore this argument is one of the hardest to actually win. However, being a non-smoker myself, I believe that having non smoking law is important for non-smokers and children alike.

I do not like getting up in the morning and smelling smoke. It's not the fact that it smells bad, but the fact that I can't breathe. I enjoy breathing as I'm sure you all do, smoker and non-smoker alike. What about kids, who have to inhale the smoke? What about asthmatics? Just because it is your choice to smoke, which is a bad choice anyway doesn't mean the rest of us should have to suffer. We should be able to leave the house, and go to get a coffee or lunch or whatever we are going to do without having to inhale smoke on our way out the door. three meters from any doorway isn't a rule that is always followed, but it should definitely be enforced. Smoking indoors, make any soft surface stink, and destroys and painted surface. Have you ever tried to clean a wall that has been stained due to cigarette smoke? The wall turns back to yellow in no time. The smoke lingers for days making others uncomfortable. Therefore no smoking indoors. Good idea. Save those who want to live comfortably. In my opinion they should make smoking illegal anyway. I am not biased because I am a non smoker, but because my mother died from lung cancer cause from cigarettes. Not a nice thing to go through, and I don't want my kids to go through it. I don't want to get cancer from second hand smoke just because you want to smoke inside. These rules are rules for a reason.

Smoking should be kept in non public places. Is it really that big of a deal to be considerate of others and smoke in the open air? If you look on any bottle of harsh chemical it will say, use in a well ventilated area. These chemials are in your cigarette smoke, so use it in a well ventilated area.

I'm not telling you to quit smoking. I know it's hard. Ultimately it's your choice, but the law is going to keep getting tighter for smokers not more lax. Especially in the age of go green and healthier living. So don't complain about the smoking laws they are there to protect people. Just deal with it. We have just as much right to live, as you have to smoke.
