Why people love America

In my country, almost everybody wants to go to America. They sell their land, house or car or take up courses in college that will allow them the opportunity to apply for a job in America. When you ask the children what they want to be when they grow up, their answer would be, "I want to be a nurse so that I will go to America." If financial problems persist, the only solution is to loan money and apply for a job in America.

America is considered the land of milk and honey to Filipinos. The first thing that comes to mind when America is mentioned is a comfortable life and of course freedom. America has the most lawyers in the world who take care of people who are victims of human rights violations. Where could you find a place so powerful, rich and with all kinds of freedom? Filipinos are generally used to freedom in the country that they prefer to go to America because of the real freedom and fairness that it offers to all people.

America is known for being a wealthy country that offers a lot of opportunities to people. This country is a place where blue collar jobs are paid well and by the hour. This is the reason why Filipinos are dying to have a taste of all the opportunities that America offers to Asian people.

Why would a doctor in the Philippines take up nursing course and apply for a job in America? Because in America, caregivers are paid by the hour and in the Philippines some doctors have spent a lot going to school but when they finally get a job, they don't earn enough to compensate for what they had spent in school. It is ironic to think that even top caliber professionals prefer going to America to do odd jobs because of the dollars that one could earn.

America is a dream fulfilled to most Filipinos, leaving their families at home in order to work in America their families back home are enjoying a very comfortable life. Even in this time or recession, Filipinos are still queuing in front of the United States of America Embassy to get a visa and migrate to the land of fulfillment. It is America that could make the dreams of Filipinos come true. And while economic crisis is threatening all countries, America is still accepting workers from different countries.

Countless Filipino families are now living in America and are still growing in number. For every Filipino working in America, it means an additional dollar to send back home and help in the worsening economic crisis.
