Ways to avoid giving in to road rage

Title endorsed in part by:

Road rage is a common occurrence on the roads of today. Many of us know of a person who has been a victim of road rage, possibly a perpetrator, have witnessed it or read about incidents that have occurred. Some incidents can be minor and have no consequences, but many have been dangerous and sometimes fatal.

How often do you feel your anger boiling over due to someone's callous or reckless driving? Do you often yell out to someone if they've happened to cut you off in traffic? Do you call other drivers names or swear at other road users? No matter how minor these are and often don't result in violence, it is still classified as road rage.

If you feel any of the above emotions when you're driving a motor vehicle, then you may need to learn some methods that will help you avoid giving in to road rage.

YOU AND ONLY YOU IS THE MOST SENSIBLE DRIVER

The first thing we all need to know before we get behind the wheel of a car is that we are the most sensible of all drivers on the road. There are many dangers that exist out there, we just need to be aware of them. When we see a less than sensible driver on the road, avoid them by changing lanes or moving behind or ahead of them in traffic. They may not be concentrating as you are, so it's best to distance yourself from them anyway.

THE POWER IN YOUR HANDS

Besides being the most sensible driver in the world, driving a vehicle also gives you a very powerful machine in your control. A lot of responsibility goes with this power. It means having the ability to recognize how dangerous a car can be, how powerful they are, and also how much damage they can inflict.

WHO CARES?

So you have had a bad day? Your wife is leaving you? Your kids are screaming in the back and making you angry? Maybe you're just not feeling like the perfect specimen of health today? If you happen to road rage and take all your stresses out on innocent victims, then you maybe you should be behind the wheel at this time. When you happen to cause serious bodily harm, or another does this to you, was it worth it in the end?

WHEN YOU FEEL YOUR ANGER RISING

There are a few methods of containing anger when you're behind the wheel. It's not as if you can leap out and go for a brisk walk or light your calming aromatherapy oils while still driving.

Containing your anger and beating road rage is something we all must try to do quickly. We must also find the method that works for us and this can sometimes only be reached by trial and error. Try some of the calming methods
