Is your relationship in trouble? Are there some red flags that it is time to move on before things get too serious?
While some say love is blind, you should absolutely not turn a blind eye to warning signs when in a relationship. You should always be alert to signs of trouble, and assess these signs as objectively as possible.
Below are some potential red flags you should watch out for when in a dating relationship.
* Possessiveness
A possessive person is not someone with whom you want to develop a serious relationship. This kind of person can become dangerous, and often does, as their desire to control others can be incredibly strong.
Signs that someone is possessive include their wanting to isolate you from your friends and family. Possessive people may act like they want to spend time alone with you due to adoration, but it is actually more threatening than that. They want you to only communicate with them.
* Heavy drinking or drug usage
When one person in a relationship is an addict, the other will suffer. Be wary of heavy drinking or drug usage when in a relationship with someone. It can only lead to all kinds of trouble down the road.
* Wandering eye
Have you ever dated someone with a wandering eye? If so, let's hope you did not stick around for long! While you cannot expect someone to pay attention only to you, there is something different about a person with a wandering eye.
You can tell when you are with someone who is constantly checking out other people when with you. This is absolutely not a good sign. Run for cover.
* Frequent arguments
Conflict is natural, and it can be healthy. However, constant bickering is not. If your relationship is volatile, and there are constant arguments, then you are not in a good situation.
* Internet addiction
If your partner is online constantly, then this is definitely a red flag. He or she may be pursuing online relationships. Or your partner may be addicted to online pornography.
If you notice that your partner changes the screen quickly when you walk into a room, then you should be concerned. Clearly, he or she has something to hide.
* Separate lives
If you and your partner increasingly spend time apart, and are practically living separate lives, then your relationship may be in serious trouble. While some space is good, you also need to spend time together to keep the relationship strong and healthy.
* Abusive behavior
Emotional, verbal and physical forms of abuse are not healthy. If you are in a relationship in which this kind of behavior is taking place, you should take this as a terrible sign. Abusers always give excuses, but there really are no acceptable ones.
In conclusion, these are a few red flags you may encounter when in a relationship. Try to think clearly when involved with someone, and recognize signs like these before you get too close.
