Is there such a thing as emotional cheating?

I definitely do believe in emotional cheating! It has always been around, but I do believe it is so much more so today than ever. We go into relationships thinking if I don't like it, no big deal I'll just get out. We live in a society that stereotypes all individuals! Women are supposed to be a size 2 through 6 at the most, men should have six-pack abs and if we don't look like that, then toss the person in the trash and get new. If we don't get new then we go to the Internet and find our dream so to speak. If we take a look at ourself and others we as a society look much different than what we are supposed to.

The old adage that it is okay to look, but don't touch isn't true. If you start to look, then you get to thinking and then it happens, you start thinking about how good it would be to be with someone else, because your partner doesn't understand you, doesn't want the same things, all kinds of excuses. That is plain cheating. Porn on the Internet or x-rated movies are also emotional cheating. You need to look to your partner for satisfaction! Things don't always run smoothly, but we need to work it out with our partner, not dream of something else. It is nothing but a cop out so you don't have to deal with problems as they arise.

Love is wanting to be with and around your partner, no matter what. You are to grow together, and you can't do that if you are to busy looking and dreaming. If you are emotionally somewhere else while in a relationship, then you can't be there for the support that you are needed for, and quite simply put you are cheating on your partner. There is really no other name for it, but cheating. When we emotionally cheat, are we really looking at ourselves or are we blaming someone for our problems, we may not be perfect in their eyes, but they may not be emotionally cheating, but trying to work on the relationship. It is hard to keep a relationship going with just one person doing all the work.

Emotional cheating can ruin a relationship just as quick as the real deal. No one can be everything to their partner, but they surely can't if the partner doesn't try!One more point on my soap box, is that the Bible says for the husband to love his wife as himself, then the wife can truly submit to him, as a partner, not a piece of property. When this happens all will work for the good of the family. The husband will do what is right as a husband and a father.
