I am very glad you finally decided to go back to school. I am very proud of you. Do you know that most people who go back to school finally figured out so much education was important for their careers today? I am glad you figured it out too. Now let's be serious. You want more money, you want to take another further step in your professional life so you can be proud of yourself, you can make your friends jealous of you and you can impress the world. So far I totally agree with you. Now it's time to get serious. What do you need to know about computers to get back in the right track again?

Basic computer skills and the number one thing you must have for sure if you want to know how to learn even more about computers and another subject in general. Computers are everywhere today and anything you want to learn will now require a computer, even if it's just to send emails to each other. This makes the email the number one thing you need to know before you go back to school again. Your teacher will only communicate with you by email. Why email? Because it's the easiest, fastest and least expensive way to communicate on the internet, not to mention that it's the most widely used system for communication. To talk to anybody you ask the email, not the phone number, nor the address, you get the email. Email is also used to register in any website. Much better than IM messages because the message stays in the server and only deleted if you want it to. Best email? Google's.

The second thing you need to know is how to use windows perfectly. Most teachers will require you to do many things with it. Windows jsut so happens to be the most and the best powerful software in the world. You must know how to do some maintenance, you must know how to install and remove software, how to clean it, how to fix some basic errors, you must know how to fix the registry and you must also know how to fix the hard disk problems such as fragmentation and errors as well. With this in mind it's time for you also to know how to use the internet.

The most needed skill is the search skill. No I am not talking about Google in general. The results are too way general, you need something more specific, you must learn how to use Google custom search to search only the websites you want such as the school website or a group of websites you like. It's not easy to start I can guarantee you, however it's probably the most important skill you will ever need to have.
