Can science prove the existence of God?

Religion, among other things, provides countless numbers of people with a feeling of serenity, and love, and safety, and a reason. Religion, and more specifically, God, have been around a long time(about 6,000 years according to literal bible scholars). What has worked for God for so long is his religion is an ability to suspend any and all disbelief, push evidence and proof to the side, and rely solely on his flock's faith in him. Since religion's inception from concept to idea to worldwide phenomena, it's mantra has been one of "faith not fact".

There has yet to be one credible shred of evidence pointing to God's existence. If there were, it would be the greatest discovery of all time. It would make King Tut's tomb look like Al Capone's vault. Other religions would be crumbling under any sort of verifiable evidence towards God. While things like the Shroud of Turin had scientists stumped for a while, tears on statues of the Virgin Mary made us scratch our heads, and the Latin American world exploding with more images of Jesus and his mother on toast and ice cubes and siding and heads of lettuce than the Vatican has in any of it's museums, what do they prove? While curiosities and unknowns inspire conversation they are by no means proof of an omnipotent entity residing in an other worldly paradise waiting for us to die and be reunited with him and your long since dead great aunt. Science has proven religious enigmas and curiosities false throughout the years as our intelligence has grown and resistance to dogmas has hardened. But can science actually prove God's existence?

Of course. Like anything else occurring within the boundaries of our biosphere(and even beyond), if something exists then can it not be proven? Yes. Science has been able to break through natural ignorance or misinformation since the dawn of time to prove facts. There was once a time when the population thought the world was flat. Blood letting was a diagnosis for illness. Proving a girl not to be a witch involved tying a stone to her leg and throwing her into a lake. There are countless occurrences, items, places, and thoughts once molded by the times and environment science has been able to prove either one way or another.

The reason science can be held with such esteem and effectiveness is due to it's innate philosophy of flexibility. While religions of all kinds deal in absolutes, unwavering from long held rules from times vastly different from ours(which could very well be religion's downfall
