People want to create websites for different reasons.
People have websites for anything from hobbies to business purposes. First before you plunge into this project, you need to decide if you are going to make it available to the outside world. If so, you will need a place to host your webpage. If this is the first time you are creating a webpage, I would suggest to you to go with a free website like geocities. I have a couple websites of my own that I run, so I do know a thing or two about creating webpages. Geocities was in fact one of the first places I used to host my website and it does serve the purpose if you are just trying to create a very simple website.
Creating a website can be fun, but it can be a headache at the same time. Knowing HTML and CSS is the way to go when it comes to creating webpages. You can use a wysiwg type of editor, but it can be lacking in the sense that it is relatively hard to make the page pop like you want. That is where the coding in html and css can help you a great deal.
When I create a webpage, I use Dreamweaver. What I can tell you though is knowing html and CSS has helped me when trying to create a webpage through that program.
It may say that it's great for beginners whom have no knowledge of HTML and CSS, but if you have more control of the page when you already have that knowledge. You may have an error somewhere and have no knowledge of how to fix it. Having that basic knowledge is helpful so that you know how to fix the problems as they arise like if you want to create tables in the webpage, you need to know how to create them. Another reason to know how to code a webpage is if you have no access to your webpage editing program, there is always an alternative to creating a webpage without needing it. Webpages can be created with just notepad alone.
First off, my advice to you is to go find a book on HTML as it is not possible to know all of the codes as there are quite a few different codes to choose from. Some of the basic codes we use all of the time and yet others we do not use too often so we have to look that information up.
For the sake of this article, I am going to try to give you the very basic of codes so that you have an understanding of how to create a webpage. I am not going to give you the document information until after I write this out so that you don't get that confused with it.
In order for any website to be read, you need HTML codes in the document so in order to do that, we have to put in HTML tags
