What happens when you get the worst US the army has to offer into one squad, you have one hilarious group of misfits. Welcome to Bad Company.
The story starts off with the main character being reassigned to a squad of other soldiers who did thing that would had them put in jail. They have the highest mortality rate, but if they make it passed a certain time then they can be cleared of any charge they may have committed. On the first mission with Bad Company, you are to get familiar with controls and to follow orders to blow the enemy to pieces. Along the way, or more exact the end of the level, they find a gold bar on the body of a Russian mercenary. This sets off a chain events that has them running for their lives from not only the enemy, but the US army as well. Along the way, you get to hear the argument and jokes your teammate throw against each other.
The gameplay is what you would expect from any first person shooter so I'll skip this part and talk about stuff in the game. The level designs are expansive and you can transverse a large open field as long as its not within artillery range. If you go into the red zone, you will get shot to bits. Another added bonus is the ability to drive any vehicle. From helicopters to jeeps to Tanks to golf carts. You also have a variety of weapons to pick up and choose from to kill your enemies with. One gripe I have with the enemies is their seemingly acute eyesight to which after they find you, they can shoot despite what is in the way and how far they are from you. This becomes especially taxing when you face multiple weapons firing at you in 4 different ways. A good expense of this game is the multiplayer, which lets you fight online with other players to test your abilities against others using 5 different class of soldier.
The graphics are what you expect on the PS3, 3D and grimy. While not on par with Metal of honor or any shooter game, it does have its own charm. While the scenery isn't like paper cut outs, they do have room for improvements. Music is there, but only when the action gets intense or when you are in/around a vehicle. Theres a mix between surf music and random music for a native country. Even then, it tends to annoy rather then enjoy.
For those who are looking to buy the game, reconsider as there are better games out there, I would recommend renting it just so you can listen to Private Sweetwater complain how they are gonna get their butts kicked by the Russians, the US army, and their mums. It goes to show that while humor is good, its not always there to bail you out of a poor performance.
