Poetry: Summer nightmare

by sweety

Created on: March 18, 2009

I am the horror you invite to enter
Through the gateway of your imagination
I cause fear to flourish in the mind
Whenever I am allowed a visitation
My manufacture is under your control
In the dead of night the work is done
I exist only within your darkest thoughts
My unique presence is felt by only one
If you value then the peace of slumber
Do not let imagined fears run free
For that will summon my return once more
Bringing further mental torment unto thee
In my most vivid form I torture the soul
Cause panic and sudden sharp awakening
Accompanied by a violently beating heart
A cold sweat and body shaking
I can cause anxiety when sleep is needed
Such is my might and awesome power
The terror I deliver created as you dream
In the quiet of the early hour
