As economic times get tougher all around, many people come to me to ask how to create an environment of abundance in their lives. I usually remind them, first, that abundance can take many forms. It isn't just money that creates abundance, but also friends, family and colleagues. Before you seek abundance in your life, be sure you are clear about the kind of abundance you want. Once you've made that decision you are ready to move forward.

My first suggestion to those who want an abundance life is to stop talking about what is wrong with your life and begin looking at what is right. When we voice those things we lack, we give the idea that we cannot have them a level of power that is counter-productive. When you learn to rephrase your thoughts and words, you'll find abundance will come to you much more frequently.

For example, you might find yourself saying things like, "I never have enough money to pay my bills." With that statement you've given the idea of poor economy in your life power. Instead, rephrase the thought to something like, "I can earn enough money to pay my bills." Such a statement then gives power to the positive state of being rather than the negative.

My next suggestion is to make a list of those areas of your life where you feel a higher level of abundance would be beneficial. From that list, create goals. While the universe and the Divine will present us with opportunities for success, they do not simply hand us the things we want. We are required to work for what we seek in our lives. If you do not set attainable goals and make a plan to reach them, you will not bring the abundance you seek into your life.

Finally, create a personal environment in which abundance can be nurtured. If your goal is to earn more money, clean your office and your appearance. If your goal is to bring love into your life, be loving and lovable to those already in your life. When we create the right environment, abundance in any of its forms will be drawn to us.

As for any additional advice I offer, I can say that using a green or red or white candle to focus your intent to bring a certain type of abundance to your life can help if you are of a mind to perform a ritual. Don't forget to phrase your desire to match the moon phase in which you work (i.e. increase of positive at new moon, decrease of negative at full moon). Prayer to whomever you see in the Divine aspect can never hurt. But remember that what works best is hard work and dedication to our goals.
