Water is necessary for life. We know that, yet we tend to skip it in favor of foods and drinks that are full of flavor. We prefer soda, beer, and even juice and most of us hope that we get enough water from the foods and beverages that we do drink (after all, our morning coffee has water in it, right?). But that doesn't change the fact that most of us don't get enough water.
Suffering Without Water.
There are a number of common issues that cause problems for a lot of people. Many of these things could be fixed with just a bit more water in our diets! People suffer from colds and flu longer then they have to, deal with headaches caused from dehydration, and even have less energy then we would if we had more water. For many of us it doesn't end there. We just plug through life drinking our favorites and avoiding water whenever possible!
Benefits of Plenty of Water.
Water keeps the body hydrated. That makes it easier for your whole body to function. Water can give you more energy as it is easier for your body to break down nutrients. Your skin will be healthier. Your blood will flow better (and can eliminate those dehydration headaches). Plus water helps your body eliminate toxins.
How Much is Enough.
If you are a relatively healthy individual then it should be noted that you should have 8-10 8 ounce glasses of water each day. You should sip it throughout the day and make sure you get plenty while exercising. It is best not to chug the water and instead take it slow.
Replacing Your Drinks.
Water also has the advantage of not having other stuff in it. Juice has sugars which can cause problems with your teeth. Soda, coffee, and lots of other drinks are full of other chemicals and other ingredients that can have their own effects on your health. While your favorite drinks can be just fine every now and again, water should be what you drink most of the time.
Zapping Your Water.
Okay, so if you are like most adults you don't like water. It doesn't taste good enough to spark your taste buds and without that you don't want it. You need to zap your water with something that tastes good enough to drink all day. The best way to do this is to add a squeeze of lemon or lime juice to your water. You can buy a bottle of lemon or lime juice and use it all day. If this isn't good enough, then choose your favorite juice and add just a bit to it!
If buying flavored or vitamin waters check to see what else is included. It should be noted that sugars and sweeteners are bad for your teeth. Nutrasweet or aspartame is a common sweetener has bad side effects. It is best to make your own flavored waters and skip out on the store bought varieties.
Drinking enough water is important. Your body needs it to function as well as it can. Making sure you are hydrated all day long is the best way to work toward a healthy lifestyle. Plus it will also help you eat only when you are hungry and not over eat! Water for a better life!
