Success in life is the criteria we should all strive to achieve for ourselves and our children. The way this is accomplished is down to each parent and the innate ability of their children.Brighter children should be praised for their effort and encouraged to be the best. Competition is a good thing in life it builds character and makes children confident.
A child who is left to his own volition will be more likely to be a poor achiever and therefore subject to ridicule and bullying by his peers. It follows therefore that all parents have a duty to push their child to the highest level they are capable of.Turning your child into a swat is the goal you should aim for. he must be encouraged to study at all times during term and leave aside watching television ,computer games and so called free time. These can be allowed as a reward for passing a test or gaining top marks in the class.
Ensure your child's friends are all gifted children do not allow them to spend time with losers.Explain to them that they should strive to be the best among equals that those who are second best are soon forgotten. They only has one chance at life and have a duty to there parents to make the most of it. Any child that is allowed to fail is primarily the fault of the parent as they have to set the example by ensuring their child takes every opportunity to succeed.
The aim of every parent should be to have their child move up the social ladder from where they are.No matter what level of education a parent has achieved there is always a higher level and that is where their child should be aiming. Many parents make the mistake of thinking they want their children to do as well as them .That is a mistake that should be the base line not the goal. Children inherit the abilities of their parents it is improving on those abilities that is purpose of educating their offspring.
The extent to which a child needs to be pushed is very much down to the natural ability of the child. A parent should not bully or abuse their child but any other form of pressure to ensure they get the best out of their child should be acceptable. It is in the child's long term interest to be forced to remain focused on passing with a high grade every test or exam they enter.Forced in this context is not physical it is mental and pushing a child to the extreme will not harm any normal well adjusted child.
It is always important to ensure a child is succeeding in some form of sport. A child is not a complete person without an ability to shine at a chosen sport .Parents should test the ability of their child in various sporting activities and channel their energies in the direction of the sport they can do best.
