You Reap what you Sow!

We want others to be considerate, thoughtful and caring about us. But we never look at our own behavior. We need to add the act of kindness and the quality of being compassionate in our behavior. Compassion is not just a word but is the ability to be patient with people and having a better control on self anger.

We can be more compassionate if we understand that

(A) Majority of the People have a caring nature and they don't have an intention of hurting

(B) We receive the same treatment from a person, the way we treat them

Compassion is a behavioral trait and you can't become compassionate overnight. However, if practiced hard you can develop compassion as a way of life for you and your children.

(1) Simple act of kindness

Be kind with people around you. If you smile at someone, most often than not they will smile back at you. Don't expect them to be kind, but if you are they will also be.

(2) Sharing is Caring

You can reduce your pain by sharing pain. and you can increase your joy by sharing joy. Cry with others in their pain and do your bit to make it less painful for them. Share your happiness and they will smile with you.

(3) Help the community

Love thy neighbours. And if there is a bunch of them, then more the merrier. We shouldn't expect to receive anything from the people around us unless we are willing to pay our dues to our community and society. Help the community by any way you can. You can help participate in a cleanliness drive or you can participate in a drive to educate the children in your community. Anything big or small would help them and help you.

(4) Self Reflection

Introspection is a technique that can help you in multiple ways. A day would fly by like any other busy day, but then when time permits we should take a pause at the end of the day to reflect back on how we behaved in various situations. Conduct a self analysis to see what all we did right and what all went wrong. We should then try to think a better way in which we could have dealt with the situation.

(5) Don't be judgemental

Never judge others for we don't always know all the reasons behind the way they acted. If we are not judgemental and accept people's behavior as it is, then we will not be critical of others and can be more positive in our behavior.

Compassion is a great quality and with effort you can imbibe it in your behavior. Make the world a better and safer place by developing it in your kids. We should never be afraid of taking the first step. Once we take the first step towards self development, we will be there in due course of time.
