As the world advances on and on, one thing comes to my mind when I pass by a electronic store. Computers are always changing, altering, advancing, and getting... lighter? Yes, I still remember it now. That first computer of mine, an old colorful Mac. I was to say the least, amazed when I bought my second computer, third, and so forth, because they were considerably better as I bought new ones.
As I was sitting in the back of a taxi strolling past a small city (yet biggest in Nebraska) called Omaha, my lovely town that I have always loved and still love today, something came into my mind. What if I just try out a computer for once? That was the thought in the back of my head as I passed a boxy old building with a man infront of a computer, probably for his buisness. This was 8 years ago folks! There were still some people in the Dark age, computer-less. At that time, I was a lucky fellow at a college right next to my parents house, so I could visit them whenever I wanted to.
The taxi dropped me off at my small dorm, (my parents would not allow be to drive) I reached deep into my memory/thought bank, and ultimately thought of that one beautiful yet strange idea. What if I had a computer? I went to college and many said they had one at home, but I had not considered it, because I thought it was a machine for lazy bums who were too lazy to write. It was until that one dinner I had been invited to my parents house, that I told them of my thoughts. They both looked at me contently, and said nothing... Should I reconsider this? That was the thought in my mind as I walked through a drab electronics shop.
The money was in my pocket. The manual was RIGHT there, to lead me through all of the steps, if I ever should get lost in this new flashy technology. In the taxi, the taxi driver was talking to me about computers, and how mad his son was when his crashed. I yawned. I was excited of course, to get home and try this "Box of magic" That the guy at the store said. As I took out the manual and read through it, my head was swirling with numbers, and abbreviations. The first day on my new colorful mac was good. It was sweet. Everything I imagined, and I finally understood why computers were a want in college. It could do anything! Until... The crash... I was typing away on some homework, when boom... It was really really weird. I saved my homework, then clicked on a sentence to correct it, then the screen froze, and just went black. Forever, until I took it to the store. Now, don't get me wrong, but the old Mac computers of the past always crash.
I was astonished as the years flew by, and my computers started to get thinner, lighter, faster, and anyother positive word that ends in -er. Computers are a man's best friend.
