Nature has many secrets, not least how to stay looking great and feeling good at any age. What the big companies don't tell you is that many active ingredients in their expensive creams and ungents are found in nature and in every day things such as orange peel, coconut and even tea bags.
The first thing to think about is where looking and feeling great come from - within. So, nourish the inner body and the outside will, largely, take care of itself. Think about the ingredients you are giving your body to create its materials. Make sure you drink enough water - water is by far the most accessible and easiest health giver we have. It is free and gives the body its raw materials for healthy skin, hair and organs. It keeps cells plump and turgid and makes it easier for our body to rid itself of waste products. You can, of course, have the odd fizzy drink or tea and coffee but it is water that keeps us clean and pure inside with the body having to put less effort into getting the water out of other drinks.
Try too to avoid chemicals added to food. I do not mean become a food faddy, checking ingredients but try to prepare as many meals from scratch so you know what you are putting into your body. Your body needs to be able to repair itself and for this it needs a variety of building blocks from which to create proteins, fats and other compounds for building and repairing hair, muscle and skin so eat a variety of foods in moderation so your body always has what it needs.
Your skin is precious - it keeps water out (and in), it protects our insides and can be a real beauty aid. Whether you have perfect skin or not, learn to like your skin. Treasure it, warts and all, wrinkles or not. Any skin can look good whatever age you are so long as it has the basic needs of being moisturised from without and within. So, drink lots of water for the inside and use moisturisers for the without.
Our heating, pollution and air conditioning are not good for our skin and to keep it looking healthy we need to follow a gentle cleansing, toning and moisturising routine. You do not need to go for the most expensive products - many of the ingredients are only things we have around us in any case. Orange oil is found in orange peel so gently rub some on your skin to gently exfoliate and condition. Egg whites make a brilliant face conditioning mask and you can make a moisturising blend from honey, petroleum jelly and a dash of lemon juice or lavender oil. Tea contains tannins which stimulate the skin, so use cold tea bags (for a minute or tow only) as a quick fix for dull skin.
Of course, looking great naturally is worth nothing if you do not feel great. A flawless but disinterested face is not attractive and if you do not love life, it shows in how you appear so take up new hobbies, keep interested, enjoy what you do.
If you need to ditch something- do it now to help you look great for longer. Worry and unhappiness are the worst things for your skin and how you look.
Keep active - activity keeps up the circulation and gives you a healthy glow. It also maintins joints, muscles and skin tone by using them and encouraging blood flow.
So, for all round good looks you do not have to pay the earth - just let nature work with you.
