The best ways to learn how to maintain a computer

A computer like a car needs to have a lot of maintenance to keep in shape all the time. The hard disk and the operating system and the two things that require the most attention from you. The operating system even damages itself just by using it. Since it's software it should not happen but it happens because it's too hard to make a perfect operating system of the size and complexity of windows'. The first maintenance thing you need to make on windows is to clean all the temporary files. These files are there just using space and other resources like RAM and processor cycles. You can use the Windows default tool to do it, but I do not recommend it because it does not does the job like it should. You can manually delete all the files but I recommend you to use a professional free tool such as CCleaner. This thing does the job perfectly! It will clean your entire computer in a few moments. It cleaned for me more than 5 GB of all the things I never imagined they could be cleaned. My computer is now more clean than ever thanks to this tool.

This tool will also clean your internet explorer temporary files, history and other bad files and cookies. You have no idea of how much in size Internet Explorer keeps in your computer. It's the longest step in the cleaning process for you to have a better idea. If you can, stop using internet explorer and start using just firefox. It's much faster, better, more secure, less resource consuming and you can even install all those cool add ons.

This tool will also clean all the bad things that most programs will leave on your computer such as cache and other files. Cache is a very bad thing once you do stop using the program. You might never use those files again and they will stay there using hard disk space that you could use to do much better things. CCleaner will take care of it.

The hard disk also needs to be cleaned. You ought to remove all the files that you do not use anymore like music and videos and other software you do not use anymore. Transfer them all to an external drive. The USB is probably the best way to save these things. It's very cheap, reliable, fast and secure enough.

CCleaner once again will take care of all the programs you do not want in your system anymore. It's about 100 times faster than Windows default program removal tool so never use it again. It's perfectly safe to use CCleaner to clean all these old programs.
