If you are one of those who keep up with the latest fashion trends, chances are, you also know about the latest hairstyles, and are probably curious to know if that trendiest style looks good on you. A lot of hairstyles that many people want to sport come from the do that their favorite Hollywood celebrities have. In most instances, clients would insist in getting a particular celebrity look, against the strong opinion of their hairstylist. There are reputable hairstylist that would refuse a client's wish to get a haircut that he or she feels does not compliment their total look, a lot of hairdressers would simply avoid arguing with the client and give in.

It's true that your hairstyle tells a lot about your sense of fashion and lifestyle and even your mood. But aside from sporting the most fashionable hairstyle, one important factor that you need to consider before heading off to a beauty saloon for a trim or perm is whether or not that latest hairstyle trend compliments your face and your overall look.

Because different people have different face shapes, not everyone can carry that chin length bob, or that long locks. More important than personal preference, knowing what your face shape is can help you determine which hairstyle looks best on you. Below are some tips that can help you know which hairstyle would look flattering on you.

If the length of your face is 1.5 times the width, then you have an oval face. Consider yourself gifted as this is considered as the in-proportioned and most ideal face shape by hairdressers. People with oval face can get away with the trendiest hairstyles and lengths. You can choose to wear your hair short, long, curly or straight and still look glamorous. Just take a look at the oval faced models in hairstyling magazines.

On the other hand, if the length of your face and the width across your cheekbones are almost equal, you are considered round faced. Round faces also have round chins. People with round faces should get hairstyles that create an illusion of length in the face, like adding
volume at the top, for instance. The sides should be kept flat as the opposite will emphasize the roundness of your face.

A person with an oblong face has a face length more than 1.5 times the width. Contrary to a round face, hairstylist would recommend for you to have volume on the sides, to create a shorter look. Layers around the face can also soften the length of your face.

A squarish face would have a square jaw line and forehead, a layered look that starts as the jaw line would be your best do. This creates height that will draw out your face and soften your jaw line. Hair should wisp the face to subdue the squareness of the face. Hence, do not think of sporting a bob that emphasizes your jaw line.

Is your face widest at the temples and cheekbones and gradually tapers to a delicate chin? Then you have a heart-shaped face. Your haircut's goal is to create an oval-shape illusion by adding volume or width at the jaw line, like that of a chin-length bob perhaps. Draw attention to your cheekbones and eyes by adding windswept bangs left of your temple. Do not go for height and volume at the top, which will make your chin look much smaller.

You may have one time in your life wished for a celebrity look, but take note that while a hairstyle may look good on one person, it may not work for another. The key to getting a hairstyle that compliments your feature is to know which ones work with your face shape and hair texture. Also, when deciding on a new hairstyle, do not hesitate to ask for your hairstylist's expert opinion.
