The following recipe is a great treat for children and adults alike. It is great fun to make and will help to encourage children in the arts of cooking.

Chocolate covered honeycomb that just melts in your mouth.

Ingredients:

Two cups of Castor sugar

One cup of brown sugar

Half a cup of golden syrup

Bicarbonate of soda

Your choice of chocolate bar

Method:

First of all put a medium sized saucepan on a low heat and add your sugar and syrup do not stir just let the heat do the work and melt the ingredients. Please keep your heat low as you do not want to burn the sugar just let it go a nice brown colour with the gorgeous smell of toffee.

Once it is in a liquid state let it cook for about five minutes then take it off the heat and add half a teaspoon of your bicarbonate of soda whisk this in. You will notice an immediate effect of the sugar starting to foam, carefully pour the mixture into a lined narrow baking tray and allow to cool.

Once it is cold it will be very brittle and is easily broken, you can eat as is or break it up and use as a topping for many other desserts. Or you can do what I like to do and that is dip the larger broken pieces in melted chocolate.

This could not be easier just place a heat proof bowl in a saucepan of boiling water making sure that the water does not come over the sides. Then break up your choice of chocolate and allow it to melt.

Once the chocolate has melted take the bowl out of the saucepan and dip the larger pieces of the honeycomb in the melted chocolate then just place on greaseproof paper until the chocolate has set.

Children and adults alike will enjoy this sweet treat but please take care as molten sugar can be very dangerous so for the first part I would advise keeping young children away from the stove. Call them for the second part the dipping in chocolate its messy and fun. I hope you will try and enjoy this recipe thanks for reading.
