Saving on electricity is something that we can all do if we put in the effort of doing so. It will save us a lot of money for other important things, and we will also be helping the environment. I have just started to save money on electricity, and this is how I do it.

* Turn off the lights whenever you don't need them- This is one of the easiest ways to reduce your electricity bill. We often leave our washroom lights on or the living room lights on, when there is nobody at home. Switching the lights off before you leave home and whenever you are not using the electricity can save you a lot of money by lowering your electricity bill.

* Purchase high-efficiency appliances- Appliances which work perfectly without using much electricity can be found in all stores. Make sure you read the description on the appliance. High-efficiency appliances can save a lot of electricity and lower the bill.

* Use a fan or a cooler- In summers you don't have to use the air conditioner. Air conditioning puts a lot of load on the electricity and results in huge electricity bills. If you want to save money on electricity, make sure that you use a fan or a cooler. A cooler is an automatic fan, which requires water and uses less electricity than an air conditioner. A ceiling fan also uses less electricity than an air conditioner.

* Set the appropriate thermostat settings- during summers, many people turn on the air conditioning for hours and live in an extremely cold atmosphere. You shouldn't set the air conditioning too high. Similarly, in winters you shouldn't live in a sauna-like home. Make sure your thermostat settings are set to the appropriate level. If you use less air conditioning and heater, you will save more money.

* During summers you can also try opening the windows in the morning and, let the fresh air come in. This will cool down the house and also save you money on air conditioning.

Saving electricity bills is in your hands. You have the power to save money on electricity and save this world from global warming. Becoming environmentally friendly can also make you richer. Imagine all that you can do with extra money every month! You can invest the money, use it to buy more appliances, and much more!

So, start today and lower your electricity bills by turning off lights, limiting the use of an air conditioner/heater, and purchasing electricity efficient appliances!
